FROM THIS LAND

I was honoured to have a large collection of work included in this exhibition of 12 artists and makers, exploring connections to the natural landscape.

I have worked with Thrown Contemporary since it launched in Highgate in 2018. Created and run by gallerist Claire Pearce, Thrown is a specialist craft gallery, with a diverse roster of makers and imaginatively curated exhibitions.

The 'From This Land' exhibition was a collaboration between Thrown and Omved Gardens, as part of the Chelsea Fringe Festival. Omved is a magical outdoor space in Highgate, a rewilded community garden focusing on creativity, biodiversity, and ecology education.

I was thrilled to have my vessels displayed centre stage, in Omved's stunning glasshouse pavilion. Claire did an incredible job of placing the pieces, and floral artist Aya Tanaka created a magical display in and around the work, with ikebana arrangements in the vessels, transparent plinths giving the impression of mid-air suspension of some, and mossy hillocks dotted between and around the work. It was a truly original and memorable show (made all the more so by my close friend Jules going into labour with my godson Max on the night of the private view!)
